Margot Butchart, a devoted mother, grandmother, and lifelong caregiver, passed away
peacefully on October 21, 2025, in Daytona Beach, Florida. Born in Germany, Margot brought
warmth, resilience, and a deep sense of compassion to every chapter of her life.
She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Herman and Paula Goetze; her cherished
daughter, Gail (Haas); and her dear grandson, Josh Whittington. Their memories remained close
to her heart at the end and throughout her life.
Margot is survived by her loving sons Paul, Mark, and Joel, and her treasured granddaughter
Jessica. Her family was the center of her world, and she cared for them with unwavering
devotion.
As a proud military wife, Margot embraced a life of service and adaptability, supporting her
family through relocations across the country. Graduating from the University of North Carolina
with a degree in Medical Technology. She dedicated over 50 years to the field of medical
technology, serving communities in Virginia, Hawaii, North Carolina, and Georgia. Her final 16
years were spent at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, where her skill, dedication, and
kindness left a lasting impact on colleagues and patients alike.
Known for her love of Christmas and the joy she found in the holiday season, Margot made
every celebration magical. Her home was a haven of warmth, laughter, and tradition. Above all,
she cared deeply for her family, offering support, wisdom, and love.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Holly Hill, Florida.
Margot's legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the family she nurtured, and the memories
she created. She will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered.
A memorial service to celebrate Margot's life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Holly Hill, FL on
11/18/2025 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Halifax Humane
Society in memory of her favorite cat Pinchy.
