Ronald "Ron" W. Knauer, 73, of Rockford, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2020.

Ron was born in Savanna, IL on March 8, 1947, son of Donald and Lydamae (Burris) Knauer. He graduated from Scales Mound High School, Class of 1965. Ron married Christine Johnson on September 12, 1970 at St. Rita Catholic Church in Rockford where he was also a member. He worked as supervisor of shipping for Rockford Spring Company for many years. Ron played the coronet when he was in high school, receiving several awards he was proud of. He was very skilled at working with computers, including building and taking them apart. Ron also enjoyed working on cars. He loved doing special things for his wife, such as surprise weekend getaways and always making sure she had her large diet coke from McDonald's every Christmas morning. Ron will be dearly missed.

Those left to honor Ron's memory include his loving wife, Chris Knauer; daughters Nicky (Tom) Danielson and Cindy Knauer; parents-in-law, Fred (Mary Jane) Johnson. He is predeceased by his parents. Special thank you to Fr. Pierre Polycarpe and Msgr. Gerald Kobbeman for their encouragement, support and prayers for Ron and his family for so many years.

There will be no public services at this time. A memorial service will be held at a future date to be determined.
