Ronald Francis Koloski, a beloved teacher, devoted family man, and a cherished member of his community, peacefully passed away on August 14, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio, at the age of 90. Born on September 18, 1934, in Clarington, Ohio, Ronald dedicated his life to educating others and inspiring the hearts and minds of many.
As a lifelong teacher at Belmont High School, Ronald specialized in shop and vocational auto mechanics. His educational journey began with a degree in Industrial Arts from Ohio University, where he laid the foundation for a career that spanned decades. Throughout his tenure, Ronald touched the lives of countless students, always fostering an environment of patience and understanding. Known as the "most patient man on the planet," he was not only an educator but also a source of inspiration for those who had the privilege to learn from him. To this day, his legacy continues through the accomplishments of his former students, many of whom carry his lessons forward into their own lives.
In addition to his teaching, Ronald proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany. This experience shaped his character and instilled in him a strong sense of duty and dedication that echoed throughout his life.
Family was a cornerstone of Ronald's existence. He found immense joy in family vacations, often reminiscing about trips to Myrtle Beach and the Smoky Mountains, where the entire family would be packed into the car, pulling a travel trailer, making memories that would last a lifetime. His proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored beyond measure.
Ronald is survived by his children, Karen (Tom) Burcham, Steven Koloski, and Ronda (James) Rosenkranz. He leaves behind grandchildren Thomas (Brandi) Burcham, Andrew Burcham, Seth Koloski, Emmaline (Jeff) Selby, and Noah Spitler, and great-grandchildren Isabella, June, Silas, and Jaxson. He is also remembered by his siblings, Patty (Duane) Burton, Michael Koloski, and Phil Koloski.
He now joins his late wife of 58 years, Annabell, his parents John and Victoria Koloski, and his brother John Harris in eternal rest.
The community is invited to honor Ronald's life and legacy. Visitation will be held on August 21, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in Beavercreek, Ohio. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at Woodland Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.
Please consider a donation in Ronald's memory to Hospice of Dayton.
Ronald Francis Koloski will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. His dedication to teaching, woodworking, and cars, combined with his trademark modesty as a "jack of all trades and master of none," shall be remembered with warmth and gratitude. While he may no longer walk among us, the impact he made on his students, friends, and family will resonate for generations to come.
