Wichita, KS, and passed away surrounded by his loving family on February 9, 2026. Ron lived a life marked by devotion to his family and a coach to many. He will forever be remembered as a stubborn and meticulous man, yet fiercely protective and deeply family oriented.
Ron married the love of his life, Cheryl Laird, on August 15, 1987, in a beautiful ceremony held in Cheryl's parents' home. Together, they shared 38 wonderful years of partnership, filled with dedicated love. Ron's commitment to his family was unparalleled, often seen from the stands coaching baseball or sponsoring other children to ensure everyone had a chance to play regardless of their background.
A proud alum of Wichita Southeast High School, Ron furthered his education at Garden City Community College, where he played football on a scholarship. He later attained a bachelor's degree in finance from Wichita State University. Education and perseverance laid the foundation for his successful career and his personal philosophy of life. Ron devoted his professional life to Boeing, where he made significant contributions, notably retiring from the Air Force One Program after a distinguished career.
Ron's passions included boating at the lake, fervently watching sports, and attending family gatherings; activities that brought him great joy and relaxation. His greatest joy was coaching, demonstrating his commitment to nurturing younger generations.
Ron leaves behind a legacy through his children, Jake (Jessica) Quade, John (Kelsey) Quade, and Lindsay (Adam) Pahls, along with his cherished 10 grandchildren who will miss their "Papa" dearly. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Hannon, and two adored nieces. Ron was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Mildred Laird.
