Ronald Laird Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Parrott Funeral Home & Crematory on Feb. 28, 2026.
Ronald Allen Laird, born on October 15, 1940, in Alton, Illinois, passed away on February 27, 2026, in Newnan, Georgia, at the age of 85.

Ron was a devoted family man who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Roselle Laird, and his beloved grandson, Gregory Wilhoit. He is survived by his wife, Brita Laird; daughters, Rhonda Baker (Mark) and Candice Clement (Dave); his step-children, Michael Peek (Renee), Eric Peek (Nancy), and Denise Brown (Scot); his grandchildren, Lynne Bauta (David), Lauren McDonald, Matt Williford (Breanna), Jaime Williford, and Tyler Wilhoit (Kristin); as well as four great-grandchildren.

Ron retired from a long and fulfilling career as a mechanic with Delta Airlines; and also retired as a proud member of the the Air Force Reserves. His dedication to his work was matched only by his love for his family, his passion for yard work, his frequent visits to the gym, and his unwavering affection for his Ford truck. Known for his kind heart and generous spirit, Ron would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation.

A private memorial service to honor Ron's life will be held on Friday, March 6, 2025, at 3 o'clock in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home, with Pastor Rex Wiseley officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to one of Ron's favorite charities, Wounded Warriors, www.woundedwarriorproject.org. or St. Jude Children's Hospital, www.stjude.org. ,

Ron will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness and love will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
