Eileen Taylor Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Parrott Funeral Home & Crematory on Feb. 27, 2026.
Eileen Virginia Lampe was born around 8pm on Oct 19th 1939 at Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta Ga. to parents Martin Luther Emmanuel Lampe and Catherine Elizabeth Murphy. Her family consisted of an older brother Martin, an older sister Katherine and a younger brother Joseph. Growing up Eileen was a self-described "normal" child who loved roller skating, dance skating and anything artistic. She also described herself as a "tomboy" who staunchly defended her younger brother Joe from bullies in the neighborhood. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic school along with her lifelong best friend, her sister Katherine. At Sacred Heart she was close with Sister Bernadette who "always had time for their family" and who really had an impact on her life. In her teens Eileen won many skate dancing competitions, which eventually led to her meeting her future husband David at the Roller Drum skating rink in Atlanta where David was a floor guard. She loved skating there with David so much that she felt her dream job would be to run her own skating rink someday. The two married and had three children Mike, Maria, and Mark. She settled her family down in College Park, Ga. where she lived across the street from her sister Katherine and the two raised their families side by side. In the 80s Eileen was able to reconnect with her childhood passion of skating when she became the manager of Skate Towne roller rink on Old National Highway. She treated the kids that came there to skate or to work as her own children; offering a meal, a little money or just someone to talk to. As the manager, she organized several all-night skate-a-thons to help raise money for the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Association (Jerry's Kids). In the 90s Eileen joined the HR team of the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles where she worked until she and David retired together. In retirement she enjoyed travelling, particularly to Hawaii, and taking care of the local stray cat population. In 1999, Eileen and David moved to Coweta county and were eventually followed by all three of their children and their families. The two enjoyed their retirement together, living out their 54 years of marriage until David's death on March 19, 2012. After David's passing, Eileen remained in their home in Newnan with their three children and their families close by. On February 25, 2026 she was called home where she was reunited with David (the love of her life), her two brothers Martin and Joe and her beloved sister Katherine once again.

Eileen is survived by her three children Mike (Chris) Taylor, Maria Rowland, and Mark (Laura) Taylor; her grandchildren Zach (Cindy) Taylor, Kelly (Logan) Hackworth, Michaela (Josh) Brown, Ryan (Bekah) Rowland, Tyler Rowland, Victoria Taylor and Addison Taylor; her 4 great grandchildren Joel Taylor, Hattie Hackworth, River Rowland, Rayne Rowland and many other beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at 11 o'clock at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 215 Kirkley Rd., Tyrone, GA 30290. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 9:45 until 10 :45 at Parrott Funeral Home and Crematory, 8355 Senoia Rd., Fairburn, GA 30213.
