In Loving Memory of Ronald J. Lawton
Suddenly, on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, Ronald J. Lawton passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family and friends. A cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, great-grandfather, and friend, Ron's warmth and generosity touched everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved son Brian Lawton Sr., daughter-in-law Lisa, grandchildren Gabby, Brian Jr., Dan, and Kate, and seven great-grandchildren who brought him endless joy. He also leaves behind his siblings Claudia, Jeffrey, and his late brother Ricky. Ron's extended family of nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
Born and raised in Canton, Ron was the second of four children. His early years were filled with the loving presence of his parents, Earl and Gertrude, brother Ricky, grandmother Kate, and Aunt Margie. A mild-mannered and joyful child, Ron's passion for music and dancing blossomed early. Inspired by his parents-who once won first place on Date to Dance-Ron became a natural performer, singing, dancing and tapping rhythms on anything that resembled a drum around the house. He even showcased his talents on the Buddy Dean Show, delighting audiences with the jitterbug.
Ron proudly served in the U.S. Army for four years, earning an honorable discharge. It was during a casual game of pool that he met the love of his life, Patricia Crislip. Their bond and love endured for over 50 years, and together they raised their son Brian in a home filled with love, laughter, music and an occasional "Brian, go over White Tower and get two large, two small coffees, one cream and one sugar." Later, they were blessed with four grandchildren whom they adored and doted on endlessly.
Professionally, Ron thrived in the car and hotel industries, but his true joy came from returning home to a home cooked meal and the embrace of family. His happy-go-lucky spirit, ever-present smile, and willingness to help others made him a beloved figure in every circle. Whether offering a helping hand or simply lifting someone's spirits, Ron's kindness was boundless.
Ron's second great love was playing cards-a tradition that became a cornerstone of family life. Weekend card games were legendary, filled with family, friends, children, food, laughter, playful banter, and the occasional dramatic finger bite when he lost a hand. These gatherings brought generations together and created memories that will be cherished forever.
After retiring with Pat to the Eastern Shore, Ron faced heartbreak when she passed in 2021. He returned to Carney to be with his sister, finding comfort in family and familiar routines. With Claudia's loving (and persistent) care, Ron embraced a new chapter, eventually settling in Harford County where he found a welcoming community of friends. Through his recruitment efforts, he continued his beloved card games several times a week.
In his final years, Ron traveled with his sister and nephew, savoring new experiences, delicious meals, and-of course-a nightly game of 500 rummy. His life was a beautiful blend of joy, resilience, and deep connection.
Ron Lawton will be remembered not only for the life he lived, but for the love he gave. His legacy lives on in the endless memories, the stories shared around the card table, and the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know him.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Ronald's life at the family-owned Evans Life Celebration Home - 8800 Harford Road, Parkville MD 21234, for a visitation on Wednesday, September 17th, 2025, from 5-7PM. A burial will be held privately.
