Ronald Paul Loftus, departed this life on November 8, 2025, at the age of 62. Born on August 31, 1963, in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Ronald was a man whose zest for life and love for his family knew no bounds. His warm smile and hearty laughter will be profoundly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Ronald's journey began as the son of Robert Paul Loftus Sr. and Edith Loud Loftus, who lovingly raised him until they preceded him in death. He grew up to build a beautiful life, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. His beloved wife, Cindy Loftus, remained the cornerstone of his life, sharing in every joy and challenge. His daughter, Alysa Ramirez with her husband Rogelio of Jacksonville, and his step-son, Stephen Evans also of Jacksonville, were the pride and joy of his life. His brother, James "Buddy" Loftus, with his wife Elizabeth of Florida, shared in the camaraderie that only siblings can understand. Ronald's life was further enriched by the laughter and wonder of his two grandchildren, Liam Evans and Isabella Ramirez, who will carry forward his spirit of playfulness and joy.
A man of the outdoors, Ronald dedicated many years to landscaping, taking pride in creating beauty with his hands and the earth. He found solace in the natural world, often taking to the water with the same ease and grace with which he navigated life. Sailing was not just a hobby for Ronald; it was a passion that allowed him to revel in the tranquility and majesty of the sea.
Beyond his work, Ronald was a man of diverse interests and talents. His sense of humor was infectious, and his generosity extended far beyond his immediate circle. A 3rd degree black belt in Isshin Ryu, he exhibited discipline and strength, but always with a heart full of kindness. His love for animals was boundless, and he found great joy in the company of all creatures, great and small.
Ronald's tastes were simple yet profound. Seafood, particularly lobster tails and shrimp, were his culinary delights. He found comfort in the nostalgia of television, losing himself in the tactical maneuvers of old war shows like "Black Sheep Squadron" and "12 O'clock High." Yet, he also shared tender moments with Cindy while watching "Dancing with the Stars," a testament to their shared love of life's beauty and rhythm.
Above all, Ronald will be remembered as a loving, funny, and generous man-a person who never met a stranger and who could turn any moment into a lasting memory. His friends were numerous, and his ability to forge connections was unparalleled. In the words of the great American poet Maya Angelou, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Ronald made everyone around him feel loved, valued, and full of laughter.
A Celebration of Ronald's Life will be held at a later date and time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Onslow County Animal Services in Ronald's memory.
