Ron was born April 23, 1947 to Tim and Pauline Longaker. He went to Lee's Summit schools and then on to UMKC where he met the love of his life in freshman orientation. After two years, he was drafted into the army. He and Judy got married before he was sent to Korea while she finished her education degree. When he returned, he also finished his education degree and both taught for six years until they had their daughter, Jessica, whom they always described as "the best thing wee ever did."
Ron then went to work for Xerox repairing copiers while Judy stayed home with Jessica. After 8 years, she went to work at All American Fitness as a trainer while Ron still enjoyed Xerox until he retired in 2009.
In 2010 they moved to Columbia to be close to Jessica and her husband Scott, whom they adored. When their son Evan was born, Ron proved, to no one's surprise, to be an awesome grandpa and loved keeping Evan as much as possible.
Ron loved living in Columbia in their home in the woods watching wildlife at breakfast on their deck. He was a wonderful person and those who loved him will never get over his loss.
He leaves behind his devastated wife, Judy, his daughter, Jessica, son-in-law Scott Greathouse, grandson Evan Greathouse, his two brothers, Jerry Longaker and Doug Longaker.
The family will be holding a private gathering to honor his life.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker-Millard Funeral Service & Crematory, 12 East Ash Street, Columbia, MO 65203 (573) 449-4153. Condolences may be left online for the family at www.parkermillard.com.
