Ronald N. Mailloux, 85, of Fisk Street, Providence, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 63 years to Rita M. (Ruzzano) Mailloux.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Horace and Elizabeth (Lewin)
Mailloux.
Ronald served in the US Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After retiring from the Navy, he then worked for 33 years as an overhead lineman for Narragansett Electric. He also re-enlisted into the Army National Guard, serving for over 20 years.
During a visit to Cape Cod, he saw his wife, Rita, looking at a plastic manger and told her "I can make a better one." He fulfilled that promise a million times over; becoming an accomplished, self-taught, stained glass craftsman. Throughout the rest of his life, he created many beautiful stained-glass art pieces, ranging from lamps, windows, sun-catchers, and more. Later on, he continued his education at RISD, where he learned to create his own blown glass artwork.
Ronald was a jokester, known for his bawdy jokes and his trademark novelty t-shirts. He always liked getting a rise out of everyone he met; especially his doctors and nurses, by showing off the comical sayings on his shirts. In fact, one of his doctors even liked to take his picture during every visit and now has all of his shirt jokes on a wall in his office.
We hate to see him go but know that he is now an angel watching over us. He is no longer in pain and is now made whole, in his Lord's embrace.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Gregory S. Mailloux and his wife Elsa of North Providence and Mark R. Mailloux and his wife Jan of Mineral Point, WI, along with eight grandchildren, Kimberly, Domenic, Gabriel, Gemma, Kiara, Matthew, Christian and Celine Mailloux.
His Funeral will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, at 8:15 a.m. from the Barrett and Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Warwick, RI, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Paul Church, One St. Paul Place,
Cranston, RI. Entombment and Military Honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery Garden Mausoleum, Cranston, RI. Visiting hours on Sunday, February 9, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ronald's
name to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.support.woundedwarriorproject.org) would be appreciated.
