A memorial service for Ronald "Ronnie" Adrian Mayo will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Jeane's Funeral Service. A graveside service with military honors will follow in the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Jeane's on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Ronnie was born May 11, 1945, in Leesville, Louisiana and passed away in Leesville on June 22, 2025, at the age of 80. He grew up in Slagle on his Uncle Jack's cattle ranch and lived in Vernon Parish for most of his life. Ronnie was an Army veteran who proudly served in Vietnam and was awarded a purple heart. Before retirement, he worked as a foreman for Drewery Construction in Nacogdoches, Texas. He also studied theology and was an ordained minister. He enjoyed passing the time watching westerns and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ronnie was preceded in death by his wife of 21 years, Ruby Scarber Mayo; parents, Herman Adrian Mayo and Arnita Tippit Mayo; great-grandson, Joseph Clinton; brother, Reginald Mayo; sisters, Margie Neal and Linda Holsomback; and grandson-in-law, Mark Clinton. Those left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Teena Garess (David) of Rosepine, LA and Nita Barnes (Steve) of Lubbock, TX; stepsons, Denny Paul Scarber of Chireno, TX and James Scarber of Teague, TX; stepdaughters, Barbara Smart (Almon) of Leesville, LA, Gail Collier of Wetumpka, AL and Brenda Frickenschmit (Randy) of Amite, LA; grandchildren, Jennifer Clinton, Jeremy Smart (Miranda), Jared Smart, Amanda Scarber, Karen Whitehead (Joey), Terry Pat Stokes (Emily), Jonathan Scarber; Megan Scarber and Sandra Sims; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
