Ronald Alden McGuire

Ronald A. McGuire died peacefully on October 26th, 2023, with his loving wife of 60 years, Linda, and family by his side. Ron was the oldest of 4 children, born to Lester and Alva McGuire on June 10th 1943. Ron grew up in Southern California where he also met and fell in love with Linda, the love of his life. Ron and Linda married in 1963 and not long after started their own family and moved to Washington State where they raised their two children. In 1984, Ron and Linda moved to Austin, Texas and have called it home ever since.
Ron spent his career life as a successful and talented home builder. Ron could build, fix, or repair anything. Those fortunate enough to have been the recipient of one of his cradles, cabinets, or rocking horses will treasure them forever. Ron was known to be generous with his time and talents, and he never said no to anyone that needed his help with a project or his wisdom on life. Ron was also a man of many hobbies. He loved to rebuild old cars and motorcycles, and, in fact, won many awards with his "toys", as his family called them. Ron was not an idle man and you could always find him working in his garage on a project, unless, of course, he was hunting, fishing, or golfing with his son, Ron Jr., his grandsons, or his friends. The perfect ending to a long day was to sit down and watch any Clint Eastwood movie or a classic old western. All of Ron's kids and grandkids have a notable quote from a special movie they would repeatedly watch together. Ron's favorite hobby, however, was attending any activity or event that any of his grandchildren were involved in. No matter how big or small, you would find Ron there taking pictures and videos, even if he had to drive several hours to be there. Ron would show up with joy, camera in hand, never giving anyone the feeling that it was a chore for him to be there, though you knew it took effort. His famous line was, "wouldn't miss it!"
Ron truly was the "salt of the earth" type of man. The rare kind of man that if you were fortunate enough to be called friend or family, you KNEW you were loved unconditionally no matter what. Ron was always the happiest when he was around his friends or family.
Ron loved well, he loved life, and he will leave the sweet absence of a man truly loved by all.
Ron is survived by his wife Linda, children, Tammy Seach (Lance), Ron McGuire (Lisa), his 5 grandchildren Ronny McGuire (Andrea), Preston Seach (Faith), Sarah Lane (Dalten), Cole Seach, Lexie Roe (Conner) and his first great grandchild Lily Ann Lane. Ron also had 2 grandchildren not by blood but definitely by heart, Haley and Justin Blankenship.

A funeral service for Ronald will be held Friday, November 3, 2023 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, Texas 78749. Following the funeral service will be a graveside service at 2:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral H, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749.
