Ronald R. “Mick” Mickey, 94, of Orrstown, PA, passed away on Thursday April 3, 2025, at Mercy House of Chambersburg.
He was born on February 27, 1931, in Washington D.C. to the late Harold G. and Helen R. (Bingham) Mickey.
Mick was employed by Valley Quarries as an Equipment Operator for 47 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #842, Amvets Post #224, Marine Corps League, and the American Legion Post #46 all in Chambersburg, PA. In his free time, he enjoyed pitching horseshoes, chopping wood, working in his yard, playing pinochle, bowling, mushroom hunting, driving around in his old green truck, relaxing on his porch, and a sip of ginger brandy that he said kept the doctor away.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn E. Mickey of Orrstown, PA whom he married on May 30, 1968; son Donald Mickey (Diane) of Chambersburg, PA; daughter Cleta Gettel of Carlisle, PA; daughter Karen Brindle (Steve) of Waynesboro, PA; son Edward Mickey (Laura) of McConnellsburg, PA; daughter Melissa Foltz (Christopher) of Aspers, PA; son Chad (Tammy) of Chambersburg, PA; 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday April 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202, with Pastor Ethan Kane officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Thursday from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Mercy House of Chambersburg, 730 Norland Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
