Ronald Morgan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory - Greenwood Chapel on Feb. 23, 2026.
Ronald Ross Morgan, age 82, passed away peacefully in his Indianapolis home on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

Ronald was born on September 8, 1943, in Indianapolis to Donald Coty Morgan and Alma Helena Morgan, née Eilering. He was a graduate of Warren Central High School and earned an engineering degree from IUPUI.

Ronald went on to enjoy a long and successful engineering career with the Peerless Pump Company where he specialized in the design of vertical pump systems for commercial fire protection applications. His engineered-to-order systems provided fire protection for some of the tallest skyscrapers in the world. Ronald took great pride in knowing that his work helped protect lives and property. Most notably, he redesigned the pump systems for the World Trade Center Towers following the 1993 van bombing in NYC.

In his younger years, Ron enjoyed playing softball and basketball with colleagues and friends and was known as a "ringer" at throwing horseshoes. Throughout his life, he found joy in simple pleasures-watching trains, playing golf, cheering for the Colts, and relaxing with James Bond films, westerns, and NCIS. Most of all, he cherished quiet moments "hunkered down" in his favorite chair or on the porch, watching his birds.

Ronald was a devoted and loving husband to his wife of 36 years, Patricia Hope McElyea. They were married on August 19, 1989, in Greenwood, Indiana. Together, they shared a love of travel, enjoying countless cruises and visiting many state and national parks across the country.

Ronald was a true blessing to his family. He was a loving stepfather to Kristine Kenworthy (Rob Ridgway) of Plainfield, Indiana, and a beloved second father to Charlotte (Gilbert) Lucero of Savannah, Georgia, and Nathan Lawrence of Indianapolis, Indiana, whom he helped raise. He taught by example-steady, selfless, patient, and gracious in all he did.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Donald Harry Morgan. He is survived by his wife; his children; five grandchildren, Andre Kenworthy, Kerien Kenworthy, Truman Lucero, Evelyn Lucero, and Iliana Lucero; two great-grandchildren, Zola Ashburn and Olin Ashburn; his cousin, Richard Baldwin; and his loving dog, Lottie.

Final inurnment will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery.

Ronald Ross Morgan will be forever loved and deeply missed.
