Ronald Morton

1938 - 2025

Ronald Morton age 87 of Scottville, passed away November 8, 2025. His children Wesley, Leslie and Ronald Jr. were bedside when he passed peacefully.

Ron graduated from Scottville High School (MCC) class of 1956 where he had a very successful sports career. Excelling in track, basketball and football. He then went on to Ferris State on a sports scholarship. After getting his associates degree he went on to further his education in art and advertising at UCLA and The Art Institute of LA. Ron worked as an advertising illustrator in Michigan and Chicago. He changed careers, becoming a nuclear inspector for Bechtel Engineering after more education at Ohio State University.

Ron lived a long and adventurous life, maintaining his independence to the end. After retiring from Bechtel he became a gold prospector, with claims in Alaska, California, Nevada and Arizona. The past decade or so he returned to the family farm in Scottville where he continued painting and helping with the Vineyards.

Ron will be greatly missed by his children Wes (Elsie) Morton, Leslie Morton, Ron Jr as well as his Grandchildren Ian, Maggie, Dillon, Logan and Cameron Morton.

Ronald was preceded in death by His Mother and Father Ruth and Odis Morton, Sisters Thelma and Charlette, Brothers Carl and Odis Jr.

The family will be having a memorial at the farm in the spring
