Ronald Nichols Jr., aged 61, of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, surrounded by love and cherished in the hearts of all who knew him.
Born on August 10, 1963, in Rochester, New Hampshire, Ron was the beloved son of Ronald Nichols Sr. and Ruth Bennett. He graduated from Spaulding High School before furthering his studies at Great Bay Community College, where he cultivated both skills and compassion that would define his life’s work.
Ron devoted his career as a Licensed Nursing Assistant to the care of the elderly and people living with AIDS. Day after day, he brought patience and empathy to those who needed it most, offering gentle hands and a steadfast spirit. His colleagues and clients alike remember him as someone who never hesitated to go the extra mile.
Compassionate and caring, Ron had an effortless sense of humor that lifted the mood of every room. He knew intuitively how to make someone feel seen, valued, and special. His kindness was a beacon to many—a quiet strength that left smiles in his wake.
Ronald is survived by his lifelong friend, Chris Williams; his father, Ronald Nichols Sr.; and his brother, Danny Nichols, many nieces and nephews; along with countless individuals whose lives he touched through work and friendship. Details of a memorial service to celebrate his life will be shared by the family in the coming days.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to local eldercare programs or any organizations that help the visually impaired, continuing Ronald’s legacy of care and compassion.
