Ronald Bernard "Joseph" Parran, 87 years of Ida, Michigan, went home to be
with the Lord on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, at his home under the care of
Taylor's caregivers' team and Heartland Hospice.
Born on May 3, 1936 – in Monroe, Michigan, Ron was the son of the late Alfred
and Stella (Scheich) Parran. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church and school in
Maybee, where he was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. He was a
1954 graduate of Monroe Catholic Central High School. On May 17, 1958, Ron
married his beloved wife, the former, Dorothy Sadoski, at St. Anthony Catholic
Church in Temperance, Michigan. Sadly, Dorothy preceded him in death on
August 15, 2000, after 42 years of marriage.
Ron worked as a skilled tradesman for General Motor's Hydra-matic Plant in
Toledo for 30 years. He retired in 1988. He also continued to farm and for those
who knew him, he was a "workaholic". He loved his family, always giving them
nicknames and he had his own as "Pookie" or "Pops" by many.
Ron is survived by five loving children: Terrie (Mike) Skampo of St. Helen,
Catherine (Dave) Ball of Petersburg, Michael (Darlene) Parran of Ida, Susan
(Robert) Trowbridge of Monroe, and Mark (Tammy) Parran of Petersburg, his
best friend and companion of 14 years Phyllis Peters, and numerous cherished
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and beloved
wife, Dorothy, Ron was preceded in death by his siblings Sister Connie Parran,
SSIHM, Beatrice Giljum, Leona McMullen, Alvin Parran, and his daughter-in-law
Lori Parran.
A visitation will be held at Capaul Funeral Home, 8216 Ida West Road, Ida,
Michigan, 48140 on Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. At
11:00 am family and friends will form a funeral procession to St. Mary Catholic
Church in Monroe, where Mass of the Resurrection, celebrating Ron's life will
begin at 12:00 noon. Fr. David Burgard will be the celebrant and Deacon Mike
Stewart will be the homilist. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic
Cemetery in Maybee.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Gabriel Catholic Parish or St. Mary
Catholic Church.
