Ronald Anthony Pellecchia of Summit, NJ passed away at Morristown Medical Center on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at the age of 90.
The visitation will be held at Paul Ippolito Summit Memorial, 7 Summit Ave., Summit, NJ on Friday, July 26th, from 4-8 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Teresa of Avila Church- Memorial Hall, (directly across the street from the main church) 301 Morris Ave., Summit, NJ on Saturday, July 27th, at 9:30 AM. Ronald was born in Flushing, NY to the late Marie Felice (nee Iula) and Americo Pellecchia. He was raised in New Hyde Park, NY and had resided in Hicksville, NY and Huntington, NY before moving to Summit, NJ, where he had resided since 1976.
Ronald was a US Army veteran, having served honorably on active duty from 1955- 1956 before being transferred to the US Army Reserves, where he served from 1956-1963.
Ronald was employed by AT&T for 35 years before retiring as staff supervisor in 1987. After leaving AT&T he worked for several years for Private Satellite Network/Convergent and then for himself as a telecommunications consultant. Once he was fully retired, he was a driver for Senior Connections in Summit until the onset of Covid. He thoroughly enjoyed this position and all of the seniors who used this service.
Ronald was a longtime parishioner at St. Teresa of Avila Church in Summit. He was an avid reader and had a special interest in ancient history.
Above all else, Ronald was a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was pre-deceased in 2020 by his beloved wife of 62 years, Mary B. (nee McManus) Pellecchia. Ronald is survived by his loving children, Patricia Terreri of Hackettstown, NJ, Felicia Leonard and her husband Rex of Guyton, GA, Mary Palmer and her husband John of Califon, NJ, and Ronald Pellecchia, II and his wife Mary of Point Pleasant Beach, NJ. He is also survived by his cherished grandsons, Matthew and Michael Terreri, who were his pride and joy, and his brother Bruce Pellecchia and his wife Paula. In addition to his parents Ron was pre-deceased by his dear sister Carolyn Finnan.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made in Ronald's memory to Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad (www.summitems.org) or to Lupus Foundation of America (www.lupus.org).
