Saratoga Springs- On June 19, 2025, Ronald Reuter's remarkable journey came to a close at age 86. Known for his one-liners, his homemade sausage, and his unwavering love for his family, Ron lived a full life rooted in humor, creativity, and connection. He was someone who always showed up and made everyday moments feel special.
Ron was born on August 8, 1938, in Merton, Wisconsin. He spent his career managing bowling centers across the country, a job he truly loved. Later in life, he worked at Stewart's Shops-a perfect fit for someone who once ran his own ice cream shop and never turned down a sweet treat. He also had a deep love for Pepsi, the Green Bay Packers, and watching UConn women's basketball.
He was a creative soul who was always dreaming up new inventions or trying out a new recipe to share with his family. His homemade sausage was legendary. He loved dogs-especially Saint Bernards-and often said anything smaller didn't count as a real dog. He could often be found cooking, catching a basketball game, or talking with his grandchildren on the phone just to check in. He also loved the outdoors-especially fishing and hunting. Whether it was deep sea, ice fishing, or sitting quietly in the woods, it was where he felt most at peace.
Ron was the kind of grandparent who always showed up. He was proud of his family and lit up when talking about his grandkids. He is survived by his children: Randy Reuter (Sandy), Scott Reuter (Janine), Roberta Nicholas (Jim), and Steven Reuter.
He was a proud and loving grandfather to Mercay Reuter-Littlehale (Chris), Cheyenne Cook (Andrew), Madison Reuter, Syd Reuter, Cassie Nicholas, and Justin Nicholas (Nora), and great-grandfather to Cody Nicholas-with another great-grandchild on the way.
Ron is also survived by his sister Rosann Dahlgren, sister-in-law Janice Reuter, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Carl Reuter and Anna Reuter-Sessler, and his brother, Carl Reuter.
If you asked Ron how he was, he'd grin and say, "Fine as a frog's hair split twice." And when you left, it was always: "Drive fast, take chances." It was more than a punchline-it was the way he lived.
A private remembrance will be held by the family.
In lieu of flowers, share a Pepsi, turn on the Packers game, or have some ice cream in Ron's honor. If Ron taught us anything, it's this: life's short-have the ice cream, cheer for your team, and don't be afraid to drive fast and take chances.
