Ronald Lee Roberts, 82, of Greenfield passed away Thursday, March 26, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born June 14, 1943 in Mitchell, Indiana to the late Cecil Lloyd and Martha May (Hopper) Roberts.
Ron could always be found tinkering on things, fishing, enjoying a cold Bud Light, or visiting the casino. His interests extended to collecting an array of items, including firearms and wheat pennies, as well as other coins. A self-taught guitarist, he had a deep appreciation for music, particularly classic country, bluegrass, blues, and jazz. Breakfast held a special place in his heart, consistently being his favorite meal of the day.
After dedicating 33 years to Chrysler Corporation, Ron transitioned to owning and operating Carthage Auto Salvage until 2014. He took great pride in his service as a veteran of the U.S. Army and National Guard, and he was an active member of the Knightstown American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara S. (Phelps) Roberts; children, Steven (Heather) Roberts, Gary (Kathy) Roberts and Lorie (Sam) Mundell; 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; a brother, Randall Roberts his best friend, Joe Lane; Ron had a special place in his heart for Kevin Chew; several nieces and nephews and his furry canine, Dexter.
Services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2026 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel, with Katherine Murray officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted by contingents from the U.S. Army and Knightstown American Legion.
