Ronald "Ron" Otto Kussman of Oakland, Arkansas, passed away July 19, 2025, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 86. He was born November 7, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Otto and Mildred Kussman. He married Dorothy "Dotty" Hobbs on February 26, 1982 in Arlington Heights, Illinois. Ron worked as a truck driver for many years. In 1995, Ron and Dotty made the move to Oakland, Arkansas to purchase The Barn Cafe. They operated The Barn until retirement in 2006. Ron enjoyed spending his time woodworking, bowling, and fishing.
Ron is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dotty Kussman of Oakland, AR; sons, Ron Kussman of Apple Valley, CA, and John Callans of Oakland, AR; daughter, Debbie Callans of Eatonton, GA; grandchildren, Matthew Callans of Greer, SC, Stephen Callans of Algonquin, IL, and Antoinette Oros of Elburn, IL; and great-grandchildren, Ethan Schau of Kalamazoo, MI, Madison Callans of Algonquin, IL, Francesca Oros of Elburn, IL, and Kaylee Davis of CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Gregory Callans.
A memorial service for Ron will be noon, Friday, July 25, 2025, at Hilltop Baptist Church, Oakland, AR with Pastor Joel Holth officiating. Friends are invited to join family at the luncheon, directly following the service, at the church.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
