Ronald "Ron" John Meyer

Ronald “Ron” John Meyer of Merrill, Michigan
02/28/1950 – 03/31/2025

Lifelong local resident was the 3rd child of Reinhart and Betty (Inbody) Meyer.

He was raised in Marion Springs and attended St. John’s Lutheran School, and was a 1968 graduate of Merrill High School.

Ron had been a mechanic for Morley Bros, and was a career-long semi driver, owning Ron Meyer Trucking and driving for Central Transport for several years.

In 1985 he became reacquainted with his former school classmate Claudia Kleppert and they were partners for almost 40 years, marrying in 2012. She predeceased him in 2022.

Ron loved hunting, fishing, wildlife and life’s simple pleasures – good music, good food, a cold beer and the enjoyment that comes with each changing Michigan season. He knew how to do everything and there was nothing he couldn’t fix. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his siblings, Diana (Art Stratton) Brush, Pat McDonald, and Reinhart “Gene” Meyer; two stepchildren, Jill (Wade) Spiekerman and Nathan Kleppert; a grand “buddy”, Wren Claudia Lee Spiekerman; two sisters-in-law, Mary Pringle and Jackie LaCosse; and many nieces and nephews and their families.

In addition to Claudia and his parents; he was predeceased by his in-laws; a brother, Daniel Meyer; his sister-in law, Donna Meyer, two brothers-in-law, Don Brush and Terry McDonald; and a great-nephew, Dakota Glazier.

A funeral service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 125 E. Saginaw St., Merrill, MI 48637. Rev. Rob Richards will officiate. Burial will follow at Lakefield Township Cemetery. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral chapel on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Duke University – Duke Children’s Development, Attention: Culver Scales – Pompe Disease Research at Duke Children’s, 300 W.
