Ronald Kenneth Schmitz, of Canton, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 27, 2023. He was only 69 years old.
Ron was born on July 29, 1953, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Eleanor (Moffatt) and the late Kenneth Schmitz.
Ron is the dear husband of Rebecca Schmitz; beloved father of Jennifer (Ian Abshire) Schmitz, Julia Schmitz and Allyson (Justin) Groesbeck; loving grandfather of Dallas Anderson; proud oldest brother of John (Connie) Schmitz, Robert Schmitz and Paul (Debbie) Schmitz.
Sadly, he was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Schmitz; and sister-in-law, Shirley (Robert) Schmitz.
One would be hard pressed to find a soul as caring as Ron. He enjoyed making meaningful connections with every person in which he had the pleasure to meet. Ron would retain every detail he learned about the beautiful people who crossed his path so he could share any common interests with his loved ones, especially his dear wife Becky. He always took great joy in bringing people together.
Family and friends may gather for visitation on Tuesday, January 31, from 2-8 pm, with a prayer service starting at 6pm.
Ron's funeral ceremony is planned for Wednesday, February 1, at 11:00 am, also at Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home.
To honor Ron's life, memorial contributions are suggested to CS Mott Children's Hospital or ASPCA.
Please keep the Schmitz family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

I had the pleasure of working with Ron at the Brighton Kellogg Eye Center for several years. We had many conversations about deer camp and how lucky we both were to have 3 daughters. Ron was an expert Optician, he fixed a lot of my "problems" over the years. My condolences to the family.
