READFIELD, MAINE
Ronald W. Severance, age 73, died unexpectedly of a stroke Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Maine Medical Center, Portland. He was born in Bangor, ME on March 10, 1952 a son of the late Vinal D. and Iona V. (Higgins) Severance.
Mr. Severance was a graduate of Brewer High School and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Maine at Orono.
He had been employed by Maine Environmental Protection Agency for many years, retiring as the Division Director of Air Quality. He continued to participate and organize in department of Environmental Protection retirement gatherings.
Ron loved outings, sports and time with his granddaughters.
Among his many activities over the years include junior Solar Sprint, Tae Kwon Do, and Trek Across Maine. He enjoyed Fantasy baseball and football, was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He also loved his dog, Yaz, photography, taking pictures, gaming and was famous for his outragous Halloween costumes.
He is sorely missed for his helpfulness, humor, and devotion.
Mr. Severance is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years, Susan E. (Noddin) Severance of Readfield; children: Erin McCormick and her husband Andrew of Sidney and Kyle Severance and his wife Erin (Barrett) of Veazie; brother, Tony Severance and his wife Sheri (Bowden) of Orrington; two grandchildren: Eden and Emilia as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visiting period on Sunday, November 9th from 2-4 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A graveside remembrance in Orrington will be held for family and close friends at a later date.
