Ronald Douglas Shackelford, known affectionately as Doug to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025, in Greenville, SC, at the age of 81. Born on April 18, 1944, Doug's life was marked by his unwavering faith, his love for his family, and his passion for his many interests and talents.

Doug is survived by his devoted wife, Judi Shackelford, and their loving children: Teresa Paul (Mack), Christopher Williams, Rhonda Harris (Daryl), Michelle Strait Smith (Rickey), Ronnie Shackelford (Michelle), Kellie Smith (Jamal), and Jody Williams. He was a cherished grandfather to 20 grandchildren, and a proud great-grandfather to 16 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Doug was preceded in death by his daughter Tammy Kelly, and grandson, Joseph Baker, whose memory he held dear.

A skilled brick mason by trade, Doug took great pride in his work, leaving a legacy of craftsmanship and integrity. His hands, strong and sure, built more than just structures; they built a foundation of hard work and dedication that inspired all who knew him. His involvement in various associations within his trade demonstrated his commitment to his craft and his community.

Doug's Christian faith was the cornerstone of his life. He read his Bible daily, a testament to his love for the Lord and his desire to live a life of service and devotion. His faith was evident in his every action, from the way he lovingly tended to his garden to the joy he found in singing praises and playing guitar.

An avid gardener, Doug found peace and contentment in the simple act of tending to his plants. His garden was a place of beauty and tranquility, a reflection of the care and attention he gave to every living thing. Doug's love for building extended beyond his professional life; he enjoyed constructing horse buggies, a hobby that combined his ingenuity with his appreciation for tradition.

Doug's zest for life was infectious. He was an enthusiastic corn hole player, a hobby that brought laughter and competition to family gatherings. His ability to build things was matched only by his talent for fixing them, earning him the reputation of being incredibly handy. Doug's love for dancing was a joy to behold, as he gracefully moved with the music, his spirit as light and free as the melodies he cherished.

Above all, Doug was a loving and faith-filled man. His family was his pride and joy, and he instilled in them the values of love, kindness, and faith. His legacy is one of love and service, a life well-lived and full of purpose.

As we say farewell to Ronald Douglas Shackelford, we celebrate a life that was rich in love and abundant in achievements. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his influence will continue to be felt for generations to come. Doug's journey on earth may have ended, but his spirit remains a guiding light to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
