Charles D. Hamby, a cherished soul, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025, in his hometown of Greenville, SC, where he first saw the light of day on May 5, 1934. Charles, a man who carried the warmth of his upbringing throughout his life, was the beloved son of the late Pearl Tucker and Eugene Hamby.

Charles, affectionately known by those close to him simply as Charles, lived a life marked by a quiet dedication to his work and a deep love for the simple pleasures. For many years, he was a diligent textile worker, a role in which he not only contributed to the fabric of his community but also wove strong bonds with his colleagues. His commitment to his work was matched only by his involvement in various associations, where he was respected for his reliability and warmth.

Outside of his professional life, Charles found joy in the embrace of nature. He was an avid golfer, relishing the tranquility of the greens and the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts. Fishing was another pastime that allowed him to bask in the serenity of the outdoors, a testament to his appreciation for life's quieter moments. Even the simple act of cutting his grass was a source of contentment for Charles, who took pride in tending to his surroundings with care and precision.

Charles's legacy is carried on by his living son, Gordan "Dale" Hamby, who will forever cherish the memories and lessons imparted by his father. He is predeceased by his mother, Pearl Tucker, his father, Eugene Hamby; and his siblings, Luther Bub, Louise Fowler, Norma Hunter, Mary Limbaugh, Mace Link, and Jeff Leonard, who have welcomed him into eternal rest. His brother, Doug Hamby, remains to honor Charles's memory, reflecting on the bond of brotherhood that they shared.

The life of Charles D. Hamby was one of quiet strength, unwavering kindness, and a gentle spirit that touched all who knew him. He navigated life's fairways and streams with grace, leaving behind a legacy of love and the gentlest of footprints on the hearts of those he met. As we bid farewell to Charles, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey marked by the joy of simple pleasures, and the enduring impact of a man who was truly one of a kind.
