Ronald Dean Shernak

On November 10, 2025, Ronald Dean Shernak, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away at the age of 83. Ronald was born on May 5, 1942, in Peoria, Illinois, one of two children born to Daniel and Lois Shernak.

Ronald grew up in Peoria and graduated from Manual High School. He enjoyed a long and successful career in the grocery industry, retiring after many years of dedicated service with Kroger and Rice Epicurean, where he ultimately served as Vice President. Known for his strong work ethic and leadership, he left a lasting impact on colleagues and friends throughout his career.

Outside of work, Ronald found great joy in gardening and spending time with his beloved dog, Sam. He was also an avid sports fan who rarely missed a game. His warmth, humor, and steady presence will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Ronald was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Shernak; his mother, Lois Shernak; his son, Ronnie Dean Shernak II; and his grandson, Joshua Moore.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 39 years, Barbara Shernak; his children: Jeffrey Shernak (Melissa), Lisa Moore (Bobby), Michael Shernak (Maria), Todd Heuvelman (Vanessa), Tami Davenport (Don), Brian Shernak (Sonya), Susanne Taylor (Jason), and Anthony Shernak. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Kayla Kummer (Joseph), Jessica Marht (Jeremy), Darrin Shernak (Emily), Ashlend Taylor, Hunter Taylor, Sophia Shernak, and Jagger Shernak; as well as seven great-grandchildren. Ronald is also further survived by his brother, Daniel Shernak.

Ronald's legacy of love, dedication, and kindness will continue to live on through the family and friends who loved him deeply. His presence will be profoundly missed, but his memory will remain a blessing to all who knew him.
