Ronald Lynn Sluga

Ronney Sluga of Rio Rancho, NM passed away on September 9, 2025 following a long illness. He passed in his home, surrounded by his family.

Born on October 21, 1975 in Albuquerque, NM, Ronney was raised with strong values of faith, family, hard work and reverence for both the Creator and creation. Those values guided him throughout his life.

Ronney met his wife, Karen, at Manzano High School, where they both graduated. They started their life together just a few years later. They spent their life together in their Rio Rancho home, where they raised their two children near members of both their families and many lifelong friends. Those friends helped sustain Ronney's spirits throughout his illness, and he valued them until his final breaths.

Ronney was a skilled electrician who eventually became a project manager. He took great pride in his work and was always willing to help a neighbor, mentor an apprentice, or take on a challenging project.

When he wasn't working, Ronney could usually be found making memories with his family, outdoors hiking trails, fishing quiet lakes, or simply sitting and enjoying an open sky. He believed the outdoors was one of God's greatest gifts. Whether it was a morning sunrise or sitting next to a campfire under the stars, he cherished every moment in nature as a reminder of God's handiwork. Ronney passed his love of the outdoors along to his children and family, who will have the gift of remembering him as they enjoy nature in years to come.

Ronney is survived by his wife Karen, children Chase [Erika] and Rylee [Ryan], grandson Jesse, his mother Carolyn and brother Shane [Gena]. He is preceded in death by his father, Don Sluga.

A celebration of Ronney's life will be held on Monday, September 15 at 2:00 pm. Viewing will be at 1:00 pm for anyone wishing to attend. French's Funeral Home 1275 Unser Blvd NE, Rio Rancho, NM 87144. Pallbearers will be Chase Sluga, Ryan Hocevar, Shane Sluga, Delaney Harbin, Kevin Carlton, Michael Huggins, Neil Hurd and Todd Cleveland.
