It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald Smith, 62, on May 1, 2024. He was born on December 2, 1961, in Lima, Ohio.
Ron served as a bakery technician traveling to customers in need for a majority of his life and finalizing his career at Dawn Foods. He enjoyed going to many sporting events whether it was for his kids, grandkids, or professional sports teams. He also refereed high school sports for over 25 years. He will be remembered for his loving support, infectious laughter, and ability to light up a room.
Ron Smith is survived by his spouse Lori Smith, his children Eric Smith, Drew Smith, and Corey Smith; daughters-in-law Kami and Sara Smith; step-children Bryce and Justin Edwards; seven grandchildren; his sisters Linda Niemeyer, Sharon Bayliff, Jean Salinas, and Loretta Allen.
An informal funeral service for Ron Smith will be held from 1PM to 4PM on May 11, 2024, at Perry High School in Lima, Ohio. We ask friends to wear their favorite sports attire.
An additional visitation will take place on May 17, 2024, from 4PM to 7PM at Hummel Funeral Home (Reception Center) 3475 Copley Rd. Copley, Ohio. Friends and family are invited to attend to pay their respects.
