Dateline: Clifton Park, NY
Ronald F. Smith, age 81, of Acorn Ave, died peacefully on Friday, April 25, 2025, at his home. Ronald was born on September 2, 1943, in Mowry, PA and was the son of the late William H. and Florence E. (Mattern) Smith.
After high school, Ronald earned his associates degree and later enjoyed a rewarding career as Chief Information Officer for the Center for Disability Services. In his free time, Ronald loved fishing and took any opportunity to get back on Lake Ontario to do so. The most important thing in Ron's life was his beloved grandchildren, but NASCAR was a very close second. He also prided himself on his pristinely manicured lawn and yard.
Ronald leaves behind his devoted wife Cheryl A. Smith; his beloved children Cynthia (Scott) Volans, Julie (Scott) Coons, and Michael (Jessica) Smith; his adoring grandchildren, Cynthia (Jason) Strouse, McKenna Towers, Dalton Towers (fiancé Kelly Patel), Rachel (Anthony) Mandell, Emma Lynn Smith, Ana Michelle Smith and Brandi (Rex) DeMeo; and his loving great-granddaughter Ava Monroe DeMeo.
In addition to his parents, Ronald is preceded in death by his sister Jean Elizabeth Zimmerman and his brother William Charles (Virginia) Smith.
All are welcome and may call on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, NY.
A Funeral Service will be led by his son, Michael, and conclude the evening at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution made to Kitten Angels, 223 Houseman Street, Mayfield, NY 12117; or Out of the Pits Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 2311, Albany, NY 12220. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Ronald, please visit our floral store.
