Ronald P. Smolin, 81, passed on February 28th, 2023.
Born in Philadelphia, on August 12th 1941, Ronald, also known as Runkle, Runk or Grunkle was the son of the late Harry and Frances Smolin; brother of Beverly Goldstein; uncle to Bruce, Steven (Anne), and Jeffry (Megan) Goldstein; great uncle to Hayley (Nic AKA Rick), Taylor, Shane, Casey, Quinn, Kelce, Maggie, and Barkley.
Ronald graduated Overbrook High School in 1959, and continued his education at Penn State University where he got his Bachelor’s degree in 1964. He was a veteran of the US Army. Ronald had a creative mind taking part in many artistic talents. He was a publisher, author, playwright, director, and producer. He loved to play guitar, paint, learn about astronomy, and was an avid Philadelphia sports enthusiast.
Relatives and friends are invited to the home of Steven and Anne Goldstein for a celebration of his life on Friday, 3/3/23 after 4:00pm. Contributions in his memory may be made to BookSmiles.org, a charitable organization providing books to children in the Philadelphia area.

I was deeply saddened when I just saw that Ron had passed away. Ronnie and I were close friends throughout high school and had renewed our friendship while working on Overbrook alumnus reunions.
I offer my condolences to his family, especially during this New Year.
