Ronald Duane Sorenson, 81, of Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 11, 2023, at Sanford Hospice House, Fargo, with his loving wife, Rose, by his side.
Ron was born In Ada, MN on November 23, 1941, to Clarence and Lillian (Gilbertson) Sorenson, and raised on their farm near Hendrum, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hendrum and graduated from Hendrum High School in 1959. Ron enlisted in the Air National Guard where he worked as a Radar Technician, traveling extensively to teach others, and was a proud member of the Happy Hooligan’s. He was honorably discharged in 1977 after serving 17 years. Ron also worked for several years at General Nutrition in Fargo.
Ron’s life was forever changed when he was involved in a car accident in 1976. For the rest of his life, he was faced with health challenges, but he was determined to overcome each roadblock and he faced each one with strength and resilience.
On July 11, 1998, Ron was united in marriage to Rose Muchow at Dilworth Lutheran Church, and they made their home in Fargo.
In his younger years, Ron loved racing cars in the local area. He also loved working on race cars and watching NASCAR. He could fix just about anything. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
Ron is survived by his wife, Rose Sorenson; his son, Shawn Sorenson and his grandchildren, Marlene, Alec and Lance Sorenson, his brother, Curt (Audre) Sorenson, and his nephew, Jonathan Sorenson. He is also survived by Rose’s children, Faith (Tim) Nissen and Paul (Kami) Muchow, and Rose’s grandchildren, Cole, Presleigh and Taggert Nissen and Kendra and Kyle Muchow. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Todd Sorenson.
The funeral service will be Monday, September 18, 2023, at 1:00 P.M., with visitation for one hour before the service, at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead, MN. Interment will be at the Ada Cemetery, Ada, MN.
