Ronald K. Suver, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2024, in his Mishawaka home, surrounded by his loving wife, Sandy and family. Born on May 11, 1939, in Carterville, IL, Ronald's journey through life was marked by dedication, creativity, and a deep love for his family. He was 85 years old.
Ronald's early life in Carterville set the stage for a lifetime of learning and service. After completing his education with a bachelor's degree from Indiana University South Bend, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. His commitment to community continued as he took on a role in security at the University of Notre Dame, where he worked for many years, safeguarding both the Administration Building and the revered Basilica.
On December 1, 1962, Ronald married the love of his life, Sandra Sue (Gundeck) Suver. Their enduring partnership was blessed with a son, Travis, who, along with his wife Christy, gave Ronald the joy of becoming a grandfather to Nathan and a great-grandfather to Nathan Jr. Though his parents, Herman and Myrtle (Hundley) Suver, and his brother Larry Suver, who was married to the late Mary Sue, predeceased him, Ronald's legacy of love and family values continues to thrive through his descendants.
Beyond his professional and family life, Ronald was an accomplished photographer. His keen eye and artistic talent led him to win numerous contests. He captured life's most precious moments at weddings, senior pictures, dances, and even had the honor of photographing Miss Indiana and Miss Michigan. His photographs were not just images but treasured memories for those he captured.
Ronald was a member of Currant Road Church of Christ.
As per Ronald's wishes, there will be no services at this time. Palmer Funeral Home - River Park Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Ronald's family takes solace in knowing that his spirit lives on through the beautiful photographs he took, the memories they hold dear, and the love he shared so generously.
Ronald K. Suver's journey on earth has concluded, but the impact of his life will be felt for generations to come. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, a doting grandfather and great-grandfather, and a true friend. Ronald's story is one of a life well-lived and well-loved, and though he has left this world, his legacy will continue to inspire and guide those he left behind.
His wife shares these final words for Ron: "It was love at first sight. We loved each other so much. We went through thick and thin together for 62 years. We had the Lord's Super at home on Sundays because of illness. Ron would always pray, thanking God for everything, praying for the sick, the Church, the country and especially, for family. I know he is at rest after a long illness. One with the Lord. I will miss him terribly."
