Jurrens Funeral Home of AshtonRonald Thole, age 65 of rural Ashton, Iowa passed away Saturday, August 23, 2025.
A funeral mass will take place at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ashton, Iowa with Father Siby Punnoose, as celebrant.
A Rosary service will be at 4:30 PM, Tuesday, September 2nd at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ashton. Visitation will take place following the rosary from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the church.

Ronald Thole was born November 12, 1959, the son of Edmund and Eleanor (Kosse) Thole in Le Mars, Iowa. He spent his early childhood in Hospers, Iowa before his family moved to Ashton in 1964. Ron graduated from Sibley High School in1978.
Following high school, he joined the United States Army serving in the Military Police and Infantry 24th Division. He was honorably discharged from Fort Stewart, Georgia on September 26, 1981.
Ron was united in marriage to Brenda Wagner on June 4, 1988. The couple later divorced.
In the past, Ron worked for rural water. He moved to the family farm east of Ashton, Iowa in 1992 where he farmed and thoroughly enjoyed raising and caring for cattle.
A memorable trip he enjoyed, was going on the Honor Flight in September of 2023 with his brother-in-law, Dave Honkomp. He had faithful fur companions throughout his life including Pepper, Tanner, Ringo, Dillion, and Red. He enjoyed going on trips with his friends to Mexico and Sturgis.
Ron is survived by his 9 siblings, Carol (Dave) Honkomp of Paullina, IA, Mike (Beth) Thole of Sibley, IA, Don (Cindy) Thole of Melvin, IA, Kathy (Byron) Strivens of Oregon City, OR, Sharon Sullivan of Amarillo, TX, Jo (Allen) Fritz of Paullina, IA, Eileen (Jim) Helgeland of Taccoa, GA, Paula (Rich) Morgan of Sheldon, IA, Karen Thole of Sheldon, IA; many nieces and nephews; extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund and Eleanor; infant brother, John Thole; and brother-in-law, Joe Sullivan.
