Raymond LeRoy "Randy" Goettsch of Ashton Ia. Passed away on Thursday evening Feb.20 2025 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls South Dakota Following a lengthy Illness.
The Goettsch family will host a Celebration of Life on Saturday, July 19th from 2:00 to 6:00 PM, at the Ashton Whiskey Vault in Ashton, IA.
Randy was born July 2,1956 in Rock Valley Ia. to the parents of Robert Goettsch & Beverly (Miles) Peterson. In his early years the family lived in Orange City in 1971. The family moved to Humboldt, from there Randy moved to Sheldon to attend Northwest Community Vocational School, and went on to work at the creamery (AMPI) in Sibley until it closed. He married Laura Van Briesen and they lived in the Ashton area. The marriage was later dissolved. Randy worked in construction for Bob Idema for many years. In 1990 Randy was involved in a motorcycle/combine accident which left him in a lot of pain. He was told he would never be able to walk on his right foot again but was able to prove that wrong. He would drop whatever he was doing to help out a friend.
He is survived by his mother; Beverly Peterson of Humboldt, Sisters; Gloria Goettsch of Humboldt, Linda Johnson of Dakota City IA and Barbara Mathis (Mike)of Bakersfield, CA, Brother; Rusty Goettsch of Humboldt, Nephews; Jeramy Bleich, Michael Goettsch, Jacob Goettsch and Preston Mathis, Nieces; Holly Mathis and Ann Brock. Also, his very special family friends; Ervin and Denise Cummings, and their loving family.
He was preceded in death by his Father; Robert Goettsch, Brother; Bobby Goettsch and Brother-In-Law; Larry "Grease" Johnson.
