Ronald Edward Treaster ("Ron") passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024 at his home in Eustis, Florida after a long illness. Visitation will be held on November 30, 2024 at First United Methodist Church of Mount Dora, 439 E. 5th Avenue, Mount Dora from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. There will also be a celebration of life on December 28, 2024 at Mt. Bethel Church of McClure, 16 E. Specht Street, McClure from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Ron was born on February 15, 1945 in Paintersville, Pennsylvania to Earl and Margaret Treaster. He attended Dallastown High School and Harrisburg Area Community College. Ron served in the Marine Corp. from 1965 until 1967. He then had a long law enforcement career at York Township in York, PA before moving to Florida in 1980 and working for the Orange County Sheriff's Office in Orlando, FL until his retirement in 1998. Ron was a long-time and active member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
Ron loved animals and always had a menagerie of horses, dogs, cats (and sometimes ducks and chickens) that were treated like royalty. He was an avid horseback rider who loved to take off on a trail on his horse, Reni K. In his career and in his spare time, Ron was also a lover of motorcycles and enjoyed riding his beloved Roadstar. But more than anything else, Ron was the ultimate family man who devoted his life to his wife, four children, and eight grandchildren. Nothing pleased him more than going to cheer his grandchildren on at their many, many extracurricular activities which included softball, baseball, football, swimming, weightlifting, taekwondo, soccer, wrestling, track, and boy scouts. He was also known to brag to anyone who would listen about their academic and life achievements.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Margaret Treaster, sister Ruth Almoney, and brother-in-law Ike Bishop.
Ron's joyful and beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of those that survive him including his wife Susanna Treaster, his children Chad Treaster (Laurie), Alicia Stonebreaker (Erik), Michelle Miles, and Beth Williams (Ricky), his grandchildren Michael Williams, Ricky Williams, Jr., Carson Stonebreaker, Jayda Treaster, Blake Stonebreaker, Gavin Treaster, Donovan Stonebreaker, and Gannon Treaster, his siblings Bill Treaster (Sandra) and Norma Bishop, brother-in-law Glen Almoney, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and close friends.
Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared on the tribute wall.
