Ronald J. View
November 3, 1937 – November 10, 2025
Ronald J. View, age 88, passed away peacefully at his home in Bay City on November 10, 2025, with his family by his side. He was born on November 3, 1937, to the late Ernest and Vivian (Scram) View.
Ron proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and continued a lifetime of service and patriotism. He was a devoted member of the Marine Corps League, served on the Bay County Veterans Honor Guard for over ten years, and was active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary from 1973 to the present. He was also a long-standing member of Joppa Wenona Lodge No. 315, where he held several positions during his faithful 35+ years, and a life member of the Bay Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, for nearly 30 years. Ron was strong in his faith and a long-time member of Kawkawlin Community Church, now known as Foundation Church.
Ron was stubborn, strong-willed, and steady in his values. He lived a life of quiet service-whether assisting with military honors, volunteering for Food for Faith, or supporting lodge activities. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and spending time with family, and nothing meant more to him than his granddaughters, whom he deeply adored.
On July 27, 1963, Ron married Josephine "Pat" View, and together they shared 59 years of marriage before her passing on March 9, 2023.
Ron is survived by his children: Ronald (Roxann) View Jr. and Kim (Jim) Calcutt; his granddaughters: Amanda Calcutt, Isabella View, and Samantha Calcutt (Todd Wyzkiewicz); and a bonus grandson, Sam Brown. He is also survived by his siblings: Carol O'Neil and Janet Zerby; and in-laws: Frank Ferranti, Stanley Gawlik, John (Betty) Gawlik, and Donna View.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Josephine "Pat"; his parents, Ernest and Vivian; his brother, Gerald View; his sister, Pat Ferranti; and in-laws: Joan Gawlik, Gary O'Neil, Bill Zerby, and Audrey Gawlik.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Squires Funeral Home, 211 N. Henry Street, Bay City, MI 48706. Rev. Charlie Campbell and Ron's granddaughter Amanda Calcutt will officiate. Military Honors will be provided by the Bay County Veterans Honor Guard, and the US Marine Corps. Burial will follow at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Thursday, November 13, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Squires Funeral Home. A Poppy Service of Remembrance for Ron will be held Thursday at 3:00 PM, followed later by a Masonic Service at 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Order of the Eastern Star – Bay Chapter.

I didn't know Mr. View, but I have long admired the family and his sister, Carol, has been a dear friend for over 60 years. She is a very strong and loyal woman and I know this is another family loss for her that seems to be coming all too often. I know I would've liked Mr. View and feel a small measure of the pain Carol has to feel. Take comfort in witnessing a life well lived. Smile and go forward...
