Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dolan Funeral Home - North Chelmsford on Oct. 1, 2025.
Ronald L. Wetmore, 61, of Chelmsford, MA, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 9, 2025, as the result of an automobile accident.
He was the beloved husband of Paula Wetmore, with whom he would have celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary on August 1.
Born in Landstuhl, Germany, on August 2, 1963, Ron was the son of Ronald W. and Patricia A. (Keohane) Wetmore of Chelmsford. He was raised in Chelmsford and graduated from Chelmsford High School with the Class of 1981. Ron continued to maintain close friendships with many who attended Chelmsford schools with him.
A skilled craftsman and confident, educated professional, Ron worked as a general contractor and project/property manager for many years before establishing and operating Wetmore Construction Company. After a decade of running his own business, Ron chose to apply his expertise and knowledge in construction by working as a Building Inspector, first for 10 years for the town of Andover, MA and for the past 15 years as a Commonwealth of Massachusetts Building Inspector in the Department of Public Safety. He took this role very seriously and always put safety first in every inspection.
Ron had a passion for bringing positive energy to gatherings, and you could always locate him by following his hearty laugh and looking for his Hawaiian shirt. A devoted car, motorcycle and boating enthusiast, he enjoyed attending local car shows, riding with friends during bike week in Laconia, and boating with family and friends on Heart Pond. If anyone ever needed a helping hand, he was always happy to do whatever he could to assist. Ron was a dedicated golfer, active in a Monday night golf league at Nabnasset and Wednesday golf league at Chelmsford Country Club, traveling to Myrtle Beach for an annual golf trip with friends, and participating in several local fund-raising golf tournaments. He relished playing golf with his father in the leagues, tournaments, in family foursomes, and on Father's Day. Of course, he always had a woodworking project underway.
Ron loved his family and made them his number one priority, enjoying vacations in Ocean Point, ME and Disney. He especially cherished being "Pa" to his granddaughter.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Daniel, Jacob and Bridget Wetmore, all of Chelmsford; his pride and joy is his granddaughter Ariel Rose Wetmore. He is also survived by his parents; his brother James Wetmore and partner Thomas Sehne of Germany; his sister Debra and her husband Wayne Mercure of Southbridge, MA; brothers-in-law Matthew Gallagher and his wife Alexis of New Jersey, Peter Gallagher of Billerica, MA, and Stephen Gallagher of Lowell, MA; sister-in-law Lisa and her husband Patrick Buck of Pelham, NH; nieces and nephews Mackenzie and Sydney Mercure, Justine Christian, Nora Gallagher, Erin Buck, and Allison Buck.
Ronald was predeceased by his beloved son, Ronald "Ronnie" Wetmore, who passed away in 2006. He was also predeceased by his wife's parents, Frederic and Florence Gallagher, to whom he was like a son.
