Natural Bridge - Clara May Wetmore, 81, passed away on November 4, 2025, while at home surrounded by her family.
A calling hour will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., located at 500 State Street in Carthage, NY 13619. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am in the Lundy Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Wayne Arnold officiating. A graveside service will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Natural Bridge. The family would like to invite everyone to gather at the Natural Bridge Fire Dept. Co., located at 27570 High St, Natural Bridge, NY 13665, following the services.
Clara was born on May 4, 1944, in Carthage, to the late Clarence and Margaret (Kempney) Bray. Clara married John Wetmore at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Natural Bridge, and was a loving wife for over 60 years, and a devoted mother to their four girls, Darcie, Kathryn, Janet, and Nichole. Clara retired from Carthage Central School District in 2011 after 20 years of service. Clara’s warmth, strength, and unwavering love will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her beloved husband of over 60 years, John; her children, Darcie Wetmore and her partner Robert Beeman of West Carthage, Kathryn Guyette of Carthage, Janet (Edward) Fisher of Carthage, and Nichole Wetmore of Natural Bridge; a sister, Marie LaVancha of Harrisville; a brother-in-law, Brian (Cindy); seven grandchildren, Anthony Beeman, Trixie Wetmore, Marcus Beeman, Travis Wetmore, Tyler Markwick, Jacob Beeman, and Taylor Johnson; seven great-grandchildren, Garrett, Leah, Patrick, Joseph, Tommy, Maxwell, and Willow; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is predeceased by her brother Robert “Bob”; her parents, Clarence and Margaret; a son-in-law, Rodney Guyette; two grandchildren, Zachary and Jonathon; and one great-grandchild, Trevor.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Carthage Augustinian Academy, located at 317 West Street, Carthage, NY 13619.
