Cape Vincent - Ruth Jones, 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 13, 2025, while at Carthage Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, where she had been a patient for some time.
A graveside service will take place at 11:00 am on October 28, 2025, at the St. Lawrence Union Cemetery, where she and her son, “KT”, will be laid to rest.
Ruth was born on June 5, 1932, in Adams, NY, to the late Melvin and Florence (Snyder) Scales. After graduating from Lyme Central School, she went on to work for a variety of places in the North Country. She worked for a number of stores in the Watertown area, for the Faichney Instrument Co., for Coutts Adult Home, and drove for Volunteer Transportation of Jefferson County. Later in life, Ruth worked as an at-home caregiver for many years.
Ruth married Kenneth in their home in Rosiere and they spent many years together.
Ruth loved exploring the many beautiful sights the North Country had to offer. An avid photographer, she enjoyed capturing the beauty of nature and sharing her photos with loved ones. She also cherished spending time playing cards with her friends and family. The hustle and bustle of the holiday season brought her joy, especially being the one to always prepare all the holiday meals for those she cared about.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Mary (Kevin) Clark and Juanita (Steven) Gibson; and her grandchildren, Aaron, Bethany, Moriah Lynn, William, and Phillip; her great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Brooklynn, Adrianna, Nevaeh, Makayla, Micheal, Owen, and Ryley, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Kenneth, who passed in 1999; her sons, Kenneth “KT” and Kevin “Toby”; a daughter, Kathy; a brother, Stanley; a half-sister, Maureen; and four half-brothers, Frank, Roy, George “Al”, and Earl.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to the Cape Vincent Volunteer Fire Department, located at 241 Broadway St, Cape Vincent, NY 13618.
