Ronald “Ronnie” Dale Wright, 84, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born December 23, 1940, in the close-knit town of Quanah, Texas, Ronnie lived a life defined by dedication, kindness, and an unwavering joy in both work and the simple blessings of each day.
A man of quiet faith and strong values, Ronnie built a respected career in the automotive industry - beginning in parts and service before rising to manage, and eventually own, his own used car dealership. His integrity and strong work ethic made him a trusted friend and businessman to many.
Ronnie’s passion didn’t end with cars. In his early years, he helped pioneer the drag racing scene in West Texas, drawn to the thrill of the race and the lifelong friendships it created. Later, he found deep joy and peace on the water, bass fishing any chance he got. His face lit up when he was on the lake - especially when the fish were biting and the tournament scoreboard was in his favor.
But Ronnie’s greatest treasure was his family. He shared over 60 wonderful years with his beloved wife, Pat Wright, and together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and faith. He was a proud and devoted father to Kala Waits (Branden) and Britt Wright, all of Lubbock, and a loving brother to Sylvia Swafford, also of Lubbock.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Susie Wright, and his brother-in-law, James Swafford.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Combest Family Funeral Home in Lubbock. A service celebrating Ronnie’s life and honoring the legacy of love and faith he leaves behind will follow on Wednesday, July 9, at 1:00 PM, also at Combest.
Ronnie Wright lived with a full heart and a steadfast spirit that guided him through every chapter of life. His love, his laughter, and his gentle strength will be missed more than words can say. While our hearts grieve, we rejoice knowing he is now at peace in his eternal home.
