Ronda Lu Sorenson; Tipton; Peer;
Has passed. She is survived by her brother’s families: Craig & Vickie, Mark & Mona, Jhan & Becky, Steve & Tara, and David & Lea; by their children, and their children’s children. She is survived by myself: Bryan Tipton & Lindsey Loyning-Tipton, and her grand-daughters, Lexis and Halle Griffith. She knew her great-grand-daughter Brooke Collier, and she wanted to be called Grammie Ronda.
She was born in Belle Fourche, South Dakota to Lemoine and Verla Sorenson nee Twombley on May 14th, 1956. And on August 2nd, 2024 has crossed over to be with them; her two husbands, Kenneth Tipton and Jose Peer; her son, Alex Fraser Peer.
She was raised in Deaver, Wyoming. She was a graduate of Frannie Elementary, Deaver High School, Northwest College, Mesa State College, and the University of Wyoming. She was an English Major, a Communications Master, and was not only a professional educator, was also a passionate teacher. Trust, when I tell you I’ve earned every single semi-colon in this obituary.
The Dean of Extended Campus for Northwest College bowled an average of 160 in league play, but I have seen her consistently in the 200’s in practice. She picked up spares well, and loved the time she shared with family and friends. She was proud of her career. I was proud of her career. As a single mom she raised two boys, and while working as a secretary for the irrigation district office in Deaver WY, began teaching adult GRE classes. Her GRE classes became a program for Northwest College, and that program became the office of Extended Campus. She, was proud of her family.
She was my middle school librarian. She was a trusted friend. She was a well-loved, and respected colleague. She received a warning flag for aggressive driving the time she drove in the stock-car races at fair. I was happy to have the chance to be one of the many people she let, just, drop by her office for M&Ms and chit-chat. There was usually a line.
