Ronnie R. Beard

Funeral services for Ronnie R. Beard, 80, of York will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at York Baptist Church at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Leon Ballard and Rev. Grant McLain officiating. Burial will be in the Sumter Memorial Gardens in Cuba, Alabama.
Mr. Beard passed away Saturday, April 2, at Sacred Heart in Pensacola, Florida. He was born January 7, 1942, in Silas, Alabama.
Ronnie worked and owned the York Ace Hardware for forty plus years. He was very active in his community, serving on the York City Council for 10 years and as Sumter County Commissioner for 16 years. He loved his church where he served as deacon at York Baptist Church for several years.
Everyone who knew Ronnie, would tell you that he had a sense of humor and up until the night before he passed away, he kept his family laughing. His family was his heart and life, especially his precious grandchildren. He had many hobbies which included gardening and riding his Kubota tractor. He was an avid hunter, enjoying deer and turkey hunting. He also enjoyed all kinds of sports and was an Alabama Crimson Tide Fan.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Cobb Beard; children, Ken Beard and wife, Jody; and Tara B. Collins and husband, Rodney; grandchildren, Ryan Beard, Tori Beard, and Edie C. Kellog and husband, Dustin; siblings, Bonnie Hearn, Deanie Carney and husband, Billie; Thomas Beard and wife, Margaret, and Michael Beard and wife, Chris.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Clyde Beard and Edith Sutton Beard; and his sister, Mary Frances "Fannie" Luke.
Pallbearers: Robert Hearn, Gary Hearn, Bobby Carney, Johnny Beard, Robert Beard, Clete Beard, and Hunter Cobb.
Honorary Pallbearers: The York Baptist Church Men's Sunday School Class.
