Ronnie Stanley Belin, Sr.

The Man

Stanley as he was called by his family and friends was born September 14 1960 the seventh of eleven children to Annie Mae and Willie James Belin, Sr in Plainfield, NJ. He transitioned to eternal life February 2, 2026. He was raised in a family set deeply in love, discipline and faith. His parents stressed the importance of family togetherness, hard work, education and contributing to the whole as important cornerstones in life and family. A perfectionist, he lived life to the fullest, tirelessly providing for and protecting his family, working around the house, and improving life all around him. He was a calm and gentle man though serious and straight forth. Not one to boast, many of his accomplishments were quietly achieved. He enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, watching political television programs, he was up on all of the world news. He also enjoyed watching DIY shows, understood how most everything worked especially all things mechanical and was one of the most organized persons you could ever meet. A deep thinker he could and would discuss most topics under the Sun. He was a Man amongst Men.

Scholar Athlete

Educated in the Plainfield Public Schools System, Stanley graduated from Plainfield High School in 1978. A scholar athlete of extraordinary talent, he excelled in baseball, softball, swimming, football, cross country and track and field. It was in track and field where his achievements would flourish. Competing in several events, he represented his team in the long jump, quarter mile, half mile, and one-mile individual distances and was a member of the Plainfield High School celebrated quarter mile relay team. Any contribution he could make to the success of the team Stanley stepped up and met it. He was recognized by the nickname "Stan the Man" which would stay with him all his life. His excellence in track in field was noticed and he was recruited by several national universities wishing he would represent them. He chose to take his talents to Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ.

Stanley the student continued his studies at Rutgers University, Livingston college and in 1982 earned his bachelor's degree in Political Science. While at Rutgers, he would represent the Scarlet Knights as an exceptional half-miler, lettering in both indoor and outdoor track and field. Stanley was a member of the Rutgers University's 2-mile relay team winning the 1980-81 NCCA Track and Field Championship. He was an All-East Track & Field Team and National All-American and in 2019 enshrined in the Rutgers University Hall of Fame.

Husband and Father

Stanley met and courted Patricia "Rashidah" Outler softly, passionately and wooing her with purpose. In November 1986 they married in a beautiful ceremony bringing together the Belin and Outler families. Their commitment to loving each other was unwavering and demonstrated by them being inseparable and enjoying their wonderful life side by side, a testament to them facing all that life put before them together. They could often be seen having a good time hosting friends and family at their home and dancing away the night at festive functions. Their love is forever lasting and will transcend time. From their union two children, Ronnie Stanley Jr., and Leiah Chante' were born.

Man of Service

Stanley joined the Plainfield Fire Department and served with distinction for 29 years and 6 months as a career public servant retiring in January 2019. He put his life on the line many times in the saving of the lives and property of others and was awarded a Certificate of Valor in 1994 for heroism. His unselfish dedication to service, professionalism and bravery is documented and proven, recognized by his rising through the ranks from firefighter to Battalion Chief.

Stanley was a member of C.O.F.F.E.E. (Community Oriented Fire Fighters for Eminent Equality) for many years and was dedicated to their mission of providing opportunities and helping the community. He was proud to be associated with this distinguished organization.

Some truth in life are hard to accept your memories will never be forgotten. Not everyone is lucky enough to have a brother- in- Law who feels like a lifelong friend, but I consider myself one of the fortunate ones. Your patience and kindness and a man of little to no word had the ability to connect with people make you extraordinary. I am grateful to had know you. Life changes in an instant, one moment we're laughing and the other, we're left with only memories. "Rest in peace Brother".
