A memorial service for Ronald “Ronnie” Bennett, 77, will be held on Monday, May 6, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Officiating the service will be Pastor Dennis Aaron.
Ronnie was born on August 24, 1946 to John Thomas Bennett and Velma Ruth Welch Bennett in Monroe, Louisiana and passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at his home in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Ronnie graduated from Ouachita High School and attended Louisiana Tech University. His thirst for knowledge and hard work paved the way for a successful career in corporate insurance that spanned for many years.
Ronnie had a wide range of interests and hobbies. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, dirt track racing as well as NASCAR. He was also a big LSU football fan. His green thumb was evident in the bountiful garden he nurtured with great care. Ronnie will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Louise Bennett; son, Ronald Bennett, Jr.; daughters, Kimberly Guillot and husband, Harvey, Leslie Rose and husband, Jeremy; sister, Lana Bennett and husband, Scotty; grandchildren, Lauren Leone and husband, Ryan, Hannah Burch and husband, Brennan, Kayla Effinger, Lilly Effinger, Madeline Effinger, Justine Rose; great-granddaughter, Lennon Leone; step-daughters, Julie Bass and husband, Tommy, and Melissa Haskins; step-grandchildren, Tiffany Tape and husband, Chris, Jennifer Hackley, Brandon Redwine, Bart Redwine; step-great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Murley, Jasper Giovingo and Reid Giovingo.
The family would like to express a very special thank you to Ronnie’s caretaker, Kay Monroe, for taking such good care of Ronnie throughout his final days.
