Ronnie Joe Brockington of Lancaster, TX was born January 10, 1948 and passed from this life on Saturday, August 23, 2025. When Ronnie Joe (called Joe by his siblings) was young, he loved going fishing, trips to Aransas Pass on the Texas coast, and going to the creek behind his home to have fun with his siblings. He attended school in Lancaster, TX and later joined the U.S. Army. After the Army, Joe married the love of his life, Ruth Ann. He worked at Green & Green in Lancaster, TX and worked for 40 years at First Methodist Church on Dallas Avenue also in Lancaster. The church and its members were a very important part of his life. He loved working with them and knowing them. Ronnie Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth Ann Brockington; his parents, Roland L. and Sallie Ruth Brockington of Lancaster, TX; his sister, Sally Maxine Johnson of Garland, TX; and his nieces and nephews, Darlene Johnson-McCarty, Melinda Brockington Turnage, and David Brockington. He is survived by his brother, R. L. Brockington and wife Dorothy Merle of Whitney, TX; his brother, Michael Gene Brockington and wife Wilma of Mesquite, TX; his brother, Kyle Brockington of Waxahachie, TX; his brother, Paul Brockington of Italy, TX; his sister, Rose Marie Hilmer and husband Tom of Midlothian, TX; his nephews, Kevin McGuyer and wife Jacqueline of Caddo Mills, Wesley McGuyer and wife Chrity of Waxahachie, Jared Brockington and wife Jenny of Honduras, Kristin DeCampo and husband Matt of Portland, OR., Crystal Pass and husband Cam of Garland, and Jason and Jon Brockington of the Dallas area. Family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00a on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Byrum Funeral Home Chapel with a celebration of Joe's life beginning at 11:00am. Graveside services will be at 2:30pm at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas. A procession to the cemetery will be leaving Byrum Funeral Home at 1:30PM for anyone who chooses to join. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made in Joe's name to the building fund at First United Methodist Church of Lancaster.
