Ronnie A. “Ron” West, 84, of Leesburg, IN passed away at 5:15 a.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Majestic Care Nursing Home in New Haven, IN. He was born on November 19, 1936 in Burket, IN to Arthur Sheridan & Marjorie (Parks) West.
He grew up in Warsaw, attended Warsaw High School, and received his Bachelor’s & Master’s Degree (and for the most part, he didn’t even start until he was 44 years old) from Eastern New Mexico University. He was married on January 29, 1957 in Clovis, New Mexico to Janis A. (Reiser) who preceded him in January 2000. He then remarried on October 15, 2000 in Goshen, IN to R. Carolyn (Manges) Shively who survives.
He was a Vietnam veteran and retired as a M.Sgt. after 20 years in the United States Air Force. He formerly worked at Reiser Florist, then was a school teacher and ultimately retired as a principle from Jefferson School in Hobbs, New Mexico after 20 years. He lived in New Mexico most of his adult life and in 2000 returned to the Warsaw / Leesburg area. He attended the Clunette United Methodist Church and was a former member of Southern Baptist Church in New Mexico.
He loved nothing more than Jesus, his family, friends, and remolding stuff. He is remembered by his family and friends as a selfless giver that always thought of others before himself. He never ever met a stranger and everyone he came in contact with was left with a lasting impression of love and kindheartedness. Though deeply missed you will never be forgotten!
