Ronnie Dewayne Sorber

Services to celebrate and remember the life of Ronnie Dewayne Sorber will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2025, in the chapel at Oakhaven Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Claremore. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-7 in Claremore at Oakhaven Memorial Gardens Cemetery Chapel with family there to receive visitors. Ronnie celebrated his 68th birthday in his temporary earthly home and his permanent heavenly home on Saturday, September 13, 2025.

Ronnie was born in Tulsa, OK on September 13, 1957, to Willard and Alice "Naomi" (Russell) Sorber. Ronnie was raised and educated in Claremore and graduated from Claremore High School with the class of 1975. In high school Ronnie was actively involved in sports and was a force to be reckoned with on the wrestling mat and even lettered in wrestling. Ronnie continued his education at Rogers State University in Claremore. On February 15, 1982, Ronnie married the love of his life Sandra Basler in Las Vegas, NV. Those vows were renewed on their 25th wedding anniversary, on a cruise to the Caribbean. Their marriage was gifted with two children, Casey and Sean. Ronnie provided for his family working in the oil and gas industry for Redd Ridge Consulting. It was through his work that Ronnie got to travel internationally. Seeing the wonders of places like Nigeria, Vietnam, and China to just name a few.

A man that was born to be outdoors, Ronnie enjoyed every aspect of outdoor activities. He loved fly fishing especially in Colorado and would spend countless hours making his own lures. Ronnie liked to travel and according to his family if he ever got stranded, he had enough supplies in his car to survive for weeks. According to his family Ronnie traveled a great deal with his job. It was the preparation for any trip that was something unique. He would take folding tables; plastic tubs filled with the things he might need to make fishing lures or work on another passion model trains. His motel room became his home away from home. According to his family Ronnie was a true history buff. Anytime he was near a historic place you could bet Ronnie would have to visit.

A man that loved his family and has left them with priceless memories to cherish for the rest of their lives. Yearly family vacations that always included hikes, camping, and fishing. Or that random selfie that would show up on their phone. Ronnie made sure they knew how much he loved them. Going to the movies was another favorite past time and if it had a plane, tank or ship in it Ronnie could give you all the details. He liked Star Trek and Star Wars movies and was a Sci-fi fan. No story about Ronnie would be complete unless you mention his enjoyment of playing pranks or scaring his family. He was known for putting spiders on Casey's bed or hiding in the garage behind the cars waiting for Sean to come home. The only person that escaped those pranks was Sandra because she had made Ronnie fully aware of the consequences.

A man that has left a huge legacy that will live on in the lives of his family and friends. Ronnie is survived by his wife Sandra, children, Casey Sorber, Sean Sorber and wife Ashleigh, sister Shelly Rhine and husband Rod, mother and father-in-law, Judy Woldridge and JD Basler, sister and brother-in-laws, Jill Basler, James Basler, Shelly Mitchell and husband Clint, and John Basler and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Kathy Ridge, and brother, Tommy Sorber.
