Roosevelt Sessoms, best known as "June", passed away peacefully, on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Lofland Nursing Home in Seaford, Delaware. He was born on Friday, September 29, 1944, to the late Sallie Manual and Leroy Sessoms.
Roosevelt and his brother and sisters grew up on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Roosevelt received his formal education in the Northampton County Public School System. He later moved to Bridgeville, Delaware, and made that his home. He pursued his career with Kraft Company and Campbell Soup Company until he retired.
Roosevelt loved working and did not miss a day from work. He always said, "Work don't hurt you."
As years passed, Roosevelt attended Trinity Holiness Church, under the leadership of the late Bishop Thomas Thompson. He later found a church home near where he lived. Upon attending that church, he joined Mount Olive Baptist Church and gave his life to the Lord. Roosevelt loved playing music and singing, which is what he did in the church. He remained a faithful member until God called him home. He was a generous giver and always paid his tithes.
In addition to his parents, Roosevelt was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Tucker, Spencer Moses, Betty Seymore, Virginia Savage, Robert Moses, and Minnie Savage.
Roosevelt Sessoms leaves to cherish his memory, one sister, Elizabeth Harmon (Ashby); nieces, Faye Warren, Macy, Luella, and Rena Duffie; nephews, Tony Savage, and Willie Savage; special friends, Melvin Goodwin, and Pastor Willie Lee Savage; and host of other relatives and friends.
Roosevelt leaves in memory, his children and grandchildren, Cynthia, Roosevelt Sessoms III (Pierre) of Bridgeville, DE; Angel and son-in-law, Lamotte Dennis of Salisbury, MD, Robert Cunningham, whom he called CC, of Salisbury, MD, and Dwayne Dashiell, Sr., of Salisbury, MD; and a total of 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
