On March 20, 2025, God decided that he needed Rosa "Rogie" Erlinda Hernandez, aged 69, of Bastrop, Texas, so he took her home to rest. She battled Lewy Body Dementia for three years and peacefully passed away surrounded by loved ones.

Rogie, was born on June 28, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois. As a teenager she met the love of her life, Raymond Hernandez whom she spent forty years of her life with. They had four wonderful children and moved around from Chicago to Milwaukee and the Rio Grande Valley before settling in Bastrop twenty nine years ago.


Rogie is predeceased by her mother-in-law Natividad Hernandez, her siblings Juan, Irene and Gary Reyes. Rogie is survived by her four devoted children, Natividad Mendoza (Victor), Matilda Hernandez (Eugene Piña), Nick Hernandez (Tricia), and Simon Hernandez (Vanessa). Her legacy of love and generosity will live on in her grandchildren Brianna, Dezarae (Brandon), Victor lll, Samantha (Jacob), Eugene Jr., Alexandra, Kimberly, Esperanza, Estrella, Jacob (Emily), Simon, and Lauren. Rogie had four great grandchildren Leilani, Roman, Brandon Jr., and Viviana who brought her joy. Rogie also leaves behind her parents Juan and Eloisa Reyes, two sisters Anna and Ninfa, three brothers Victor, Eddie and Freddie, and numerous nieces and nephews who she loved beyond all measure.

A rosary will be held at 5:00pm and the visitation will begin at 6:00pm with a special time for the family to share memories on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Marrs Jones Newby Funeral Home.

The funeral service will begin at 10:00am on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Marrs Jones Newby Funeral Home with burial following at Alta Vista Cemetery. 

A celebration of life will be held for Rogie at the American Legion in Bastrop from 12-5pm.
